RSI Discovery Month: how to join and try the Centaurus

Official event sources checked 11 October 2026. RSI Discovery Month arrived with Alpha 4.10.2 on 9 October. It celebrates the Constellation family with missions around Stanton and an opportunity to borrow the new Mk V Centaurus. This guide is based on RSI’s published instructions, not our own completed mission tests.

Can a new account play for free?

A free RSI account and free ship rental are different from free game access. Discovery Month is an in-game event. The official announcement does not grant new accounts a public Free Fly window. Outside a public trial, you need a Game Package containing Star Citizen access. A standalone ship or the Digital Goodies Pack does not replace that entitlement.

If you want to test Star Citizen before paying, use our public Free Fly status. No new public window was confirmed in our 11 October check. IAE is expected in November, but its exact dates and trial access rules remain unconfirmed. Creating an account now does not activate a trial.

How to unlock the five-day Centaurus rental

1. Check your account has game access.

Use the account that owns the Game Package and install the LIVE build through the RSI Launcher. A login or server problem is not solved by entering another referral code.

2. Find the Constellation Rental Offer.

In mobiGlas, look for RSI Discovery Month: Constellation Rental Offer. Follow that contract’s actual instructions. The official event FAQ specifies this mission as the route to the rental.

3. Complete it to earn temporary access.

RSI grants a five-day rental of the Constellation Mk V Centaurus, including the RSI Skylark. This is temporary use, not a permanently gifted ship. Check the in-game entitlement for its actual expiry; RSI’s announcement does not explain when the five-day clock starts or promise repeat rentals.

Choose contracts that match the ships you can use

The event has Defense, Transport and Collection tracks, plus Your Total progression. Use the Journal in mobiGlas to check your progress. You do not need to buy a Centaurus to begin the event.

• Defense: ship protection and patrol contracts, plus on-foot hostile and target missions.
• Transport: courier deliveries, recovery, hauling, refueling and the RSI Relay Race. Check required cargo capacity and equipment before accepting; a starter ship does not suit every job.
• Collection: salvage and resource gathering, including Iron, Beryl and Quantanium. These activities may require specialist equipment, so read the contract before committing time or money.

Missions take place in Stanton. RSI locations are around Hurston, ArcCorp and microTech and their moons. Some missions near Crusader require delivery to another planet’s RSI location. Check the destination before loading cargo. RSI’s locations and mission instructions.

What you earn, and what you do not get at signup

RSI lists ship paints, flight blades, components, armor, weapons and tools across the event tracks. These are earned through mission progression. Check the Journal for the current thresholds and rewards; we do not invent a points table or fastest-route benchmark. The Digital Goodies Pack is a separate store product.

The standard player referral code STAR-JTV7-FXLR belongs on a new account’s signup form. RSI advertises 50,000 UEC after buying a Game Package; the code keeps the package price the same. It does not award Discovery mission points, event items or the Centaurus rental. Domux may receive a Recruitment Point when the account obtains a Game Package and reaches $40 USD in eligible fresh-money spending. Gifts and store credit do not count toward that spending. Which dates are confirmed?

The LIVE release is dated 9 October 2026. No Discovery Month end date or new public Free Fly window was confirmed in the announcement and event FAQ checked on 11 October. A five-day personal rental is not the event’s duration. Follow the official Discovery announcement and event FAQ for later changes.
