A new account registered with a referral code receives the standard 50,000 UEC account reward. Here is how those credits can help during alpha testing and how they differ from the currency included in a Game Package.
What UEC is
UEC stands for United Earth Credits. RSI describes it as the currency for the released game's economy. Your website account balance is separate from the temporary aUEC earned and spent during alpha. Can referral UEC help during alpha?
Yes, under RSI's starting-balance rules. When no previous aUEC balance carries over, your starting aUEC includes the patch's base amount plus account UEC that is not bundled with a Game Package. That is where referral account credits can help. If you add the code after registration, RSI warns that alpha crediting can take longer.
A carried-over alpha wallet is different: the patch notes determine persistence and resets. An aUEC balance already earned in the game is not a fresh grant of the account bonus at every login.

What should you buy with your starting credits?
Check the balance and prices in the build you are playing. Choose equipment for the mission you intend to try and leave a reserve for losses. A referral reward is useful extra account currency; it is not a guarantee of a particular armour set, ship upgrade or alpha wallet total.
