Star Citizen Hammerhead

Hammerhead role, variants and buying considerations. Check the source-dated RSI specifications before choosing a hull.

By Domux. Updated 2026-10-03.

The Aegis Hammerhead is a dedicated capital gunship: a large vessel covered in manned turrets, built to shred enemy fighters and defend a fleet.

What it is

Bristling with crewed turrets, the Hammerhead is all about anti-fighter firepower, a centrepiece for organised group combat that needs a full gunnery crew to shine.

Who it is for

Combat-focused groups and organisations that fight together. It is a crewed capital ship you work toward as a team, never a starter.

Match the target to the escort role

The Hammerhead is an anti-fighter escort platform. It should be chosen for protecting a group against smaller threats rather than assumed to replace a torpedo strike ship. The important purchase question is whether you can regularly fill the gunnery positions that distinguish it from a solo fighter.

Strike ship comparison. These are buying considerations based on intended roles, not measured flight-test results.

Check the source-dated RSI specifications below for variants and production status. In-game purchase and rental availability need a separate check. For first-time access, choose a Game Package; standalone ships do not include the game licence.
